This documentary uncovers what it takes to breed, train and show a Crufts-worthy canine. The programme follows an eclectic, passionate and competitive mix of dog-owners to a variety of competitions around the country in the run up to Crufts.

Eleven-year-old James from Penrith dreams of competing in the Junior Handling category of Crufts with his whippet Dave. James was bullied over a period of years at school, but when Dave came into his life, he suddenly found a friend who gave him unconditional love, and with that came a new confidence and happiness.

Paul and Nikki from Bristol are passionate about their three bull terriers, which form a big part of their expanding family. With Paul's expectations of Nikki running high, how will she fare when she steps into the show ring at eight months pregnant?

Linda is 58 and lives in the New Forest with Dotty, her Jack Russell terrier cross. Rescue dog Dotty had a rocky start to life, until she met Linda. Now Dotty and Linda have a shot at the most important competition in the exciting and frenetic dog agility category.

I shot the film on the Canon C300 but I felt the film still need something. I had been introduced to the illustrator, Mr Bingo.  I thought his dry sense of humour and his great illustrations ideas would really help the film.
